United and Tied: A Tribute to Saint Francis

You

who lives and breathes in the heartbeat of a tired horse, in the flutter of a black-throated finch and in the deep dark eyes of a Tasmanian Devil. You who has no bounds, who neither lives far away and high above nor hidden in the complexities and competition of intellect and cognition. You who is closer than close, more intimate than lover, you who is bursting at every seam of every DNA, in every sunrise and sunset of every new day. We open to you, in these spaces where mystery is born, joy is reverberated and wisdom is felt and known.

Come to us this day, in this moment, and help us see. Heal our blindness and disconnection so that we might know what it means to be free. A freedom that is only ever wrapped up in the freedom of all. So help us see this connection now.

Here.

In the luminous glow of grass and gum trees. In the presence of the person passing by you. In the squeal and play of a child running through the rain. And in the 9-5, on the streets and in the deep of the desert wild.

This connection is what brings us wholeness, goodness, new life and new birth. What heals our own souls, our loved ones’, our neighbours’ and our earth’s.

So healer come

Come and soothe our bodies from our feet to our brains. Come empower us, come renew us come resurrect yourself in us once again.

So that we may know.

So that we can see.

Yahweh in the wisdom of the children’s voices, in the beauty of your precious animals, in everyone and in everything.
