A Blessing for Your Soul

Do not look for marching bands
momentous music
or the magnificent gestures from multi-millionaires this Christmas.

Come, O come and look right here
in the monotony of this moment
in the silent music of the soul.

O holy is this place
the simple act of sitting still
seeing the soul expand
Amongst the stranger walking by
the startling blue and grey and black of the sky
the sun and moon and stars
that guide us day by nigh.

God rest’s here.
When the mind stops milling
when the brain stops believing
Then the shy soul starts to surface
she slowly begins to sing
and shine and
shred any ounce and ache of fear.

“Do not be afraid,” is where angels appear.
Where miracles materialize
in the messy matter
the ebb and the flow
in the here and now
of your sacred soul.
