Born and raised in Canada, I have always had a heart for those on the edges of society, working with people with disabilities both in Canada and China. When I moved to Melbourne in 2018, I deepened my call through ‘spiritual care’ and became a chaplain with Uniting AgeWell. Now, as a Minister with the Uniting Church in Australia, I continue to bring my commitment to the marginalized into the life and worship of my church community, cultivating spaces of welcome for LGBTIQA+ folk and seeking to walk justly alongside the First Peoples of this land in particular.
My worship style, and very nature, draws on awe and wonder, contemplative practice, and progressive theology, while remaining firmly grounded in the transforming Good News of Christ.
I love playing guitar and often bring modern music—or a fresh twist on classic hymns—into the worship experience. I’m an avid dog lover and, on some Sundays, you might even be welcomed by my friendly chocolate Lab.
Rev Alisha holds a Master of Arts of Public and Pastoral Leadership from the Vancouver School of Theology; as well as a Master of Divinity from the University of Divinity.
