Revelation 7:9-17; Matthew 5:1-12
What kind of joy can rise where grief is always hanging in the air? This All Saints’ Day, we glimpse a holy joy: the audacity to sing while suffering still has so much to say. We remember those whose joy still radiates in us, drawing us into that thin place where mourning meets comfort, cruelty meets mercy, and something of resurrection begins. And in this holy remembering, we might find our ‘raison d’être’: to let the joy we have witnessed in those who have passed become in us the way for someone else to live.
Perhaps this is what it means to be blessed.
